Stefan Appelhoff is currently doing research in the domain of cognitive neuroscience with a focus on human information search before value based choices. Together with his main supervisor Bernhard Spitzer, he is employing EEG as a method to resolve brain processes at millisecond resolution while study participants are facing decision problems. Apart from his dedication to the scientific method, Stefan is passionate about the open source movement and has contributed to several open software packages such as the MNE-Python suite for analysis of EEG data. Furthermore, he is involved in making scientific research more reproducible by being a maintainer of the Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS), an emerging standard to organize neuroimaging and behavioral experiment data. In his free time, when not programming, you can find Stefan playing the guitar or playing ball on the volleyball court.
